Erik- Can you name the member of Decrats and what each person does in the band?
Decrats- Cody plays bass and lead vox. Mike plays lead guitar. Kyle plays drums and vox. And Jesse plays rhythm.
E- So how did the Decrats begin?
D- Mike and Cody started listening to punk music in 2004 and decided to start a band after going to their first show(A Global Threat/The Casualties). We learned how to play and soon after had a full band with our friends Scott on guitar and his brother David on drums. Before we even got to play our first show, Scott and David moved to Arizona in 2005. When they left that's when we got Kyle on drums.We also recently added a second guitarist in 2011, one of our friends named Jesse.
E- How did you guys get the name "Decrats"?
D- 7th grade word cell book! We put two words together, De- Without, Undo and the other word Crats- Government
E- Can you explain a little bit about Decrats?
D- Playing shows and setting them up. We try to inspire people to go out and do these things themselves, listen to what's out there, and to just live a true life.
E- What are some positives and negatives?
D- Good:
- Constant Gigging
- Publicity
- Makes us feel like we are actually doing something productive
- It's awesome to see people really dance and get into our music
- The people who have fun at our shows just makes it even more worth while
- We also get to play in a band with our best friends
- You never know what to expect
- The shows go bad sometimes and it leads to stolen equipment, fights, and cops
- Things go bad probably half the time
- It also sucks to go somewhere far to play(people don't know you) then you get treated like shit
- The worst is probably not getting appreciated for our hard work, but it doesn't keep us down. Nothing does.
